From the Open Road to the Spotlight: The Story Behind Lyrical Legends Karaoke

Hi, I'm Jason lee

owner, operator, host, and proud voice behind Lyrical Legends Karaoke.

For over a decade, I worked as a truck driver, but when my body could no longer handle the demands of that career, I turned toward a lifelong passion: singing. Music, especially country, has always been close to my heart. I sang in the shower, in my car, and even while on the job—but singing in front of others was another story.

At 23, I auditioned for Canada’s Got Talent, only to discover just how powerful stage fright could be. I froze. My nerves got the best of me, and what came out sounded—well, like a bag of cats being tortured. It was a humbling experience, but it didn’t kill my love for music.

Fast forward nearly 17 years, and my mother encouraged me to join a karaoke contest at the Streetsville Royal Canadian Legion. With nothing to lose and everything to gain, I decided to go for it. After several weeks of qualifying rounds, I finally made it through on the last chance—week four. That moment changed everything. It was the first step in overcoming my fear of performing, and while the nerves still show up from time to time, I’ve learned how to push through them and truly enjoy being on stage.

That contest didn’t just help me find confidence—it also helped me find love. Thanks to my mom once again, I met a talented singer at the event named Sherelle Kelly, who would eventually become my wife. We talked for hours about the contest, and really got to know each other over the next several days, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Today, I’m proud to own and operate Lyrical Legends Karaoke, sharing the joy of music everywhere I go. We’re not just about playing songs—we’re about creating legendary moments. Whether you’re a seasoned performer or someone finding your voice for the first time, Lyrical Legends Karaoke is here to support, entertain, and celebrate with you.
